The Rustbuster dosing vessel is one of the best plumbing tools for chemical dosing central heating systems. This plumbers tool allows you to dose a central heating system with water chemicals in a matter of seconds! As with any chemicals, however, care should be taken when chemical dosing a central heating system.
Our rust inhibitor is one of the latest technically advanced european formulas to date. It is the type recommended to be used by boiler manufacturers and complies to the BS 7593 standard, it is also a Build-Cert and WRAS approved formula and complys to the latest 2010 building regulations.
Industry professionals regularly say "it is as good as" the best performing brand leading solutions and may well be "the best in the industry for certain metals". It combines a triple-blend formulation to combat:
- Corrosion - in multi-metal boiler heat exchangers such as aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, copper, steel, brass and various alloys. Also creates reactions to break down and remove the oxygen within water
- Scale - stops scale dead in its tracks with a near 100% result of no limescale formation
- Rubber - conditions against heat and shrinkage on diverter valve o rings, gaskets and seal compounds to ensure a water tight boiler installation and peak performance. A special additive helps to prevent pumps, trv's and ported valves sticking during shut down in the summer months
Boiler water must have water chemicals in it such as scale inhibitor or corrosion inhibitor for boiler protection, and to help prevent further corrosion and boiler problems. A central heating boiler and it's heating water must also have water treatment chemicals added to it to prevent boiler noise. A central heating system may well breakdown frequently if not chemically treated, resulting in boiler problems, a defect with the heating valve and a cold radiator or two! A powerflush or powerflushing process can often be required to flush a central heating system through to free it of black sludge called magnetite. This corrosion and scale grows inside hot water heating systems and contaminates the central heating boiler water, which will cause kettling (radiator or boiler noise), a seized pump, loss of heating and energy efficiency. The use of a corrosion protector, in the form of a combined rust inhibitor and scale inhibitor must be dosed or added to protect the central heating system (usually done by plumbers or heating engineers) every 2/3 years. This is best carried out during your annual boiler service. The quality of the boiler water is so important to hotwater heating to maximise the boiler efficiency at all times. Sometimes it's necessary to descale the plate heat exchanger on a combi boiler to allow the boiler to produce heat and restore the efficiency.
Boiler problems created by sludge build up or corrosion can be expensive to put right, but can be easily avoided by adding water treatment chemicals to a central heating system.
So remember, just like a car need its oil and anti freeze to help it run smoothly, your central heating water also requires its dose of chemicals so that it too can run smoothly.
